MORE ABOUT OMOMUKI 趣
Omomuki (趣) is a Japanese word that evokes the atmosphere, mood, and subtle flavor of a place or moment.
In an increasingly chaotic and fragmented world, OMOMUKI 趣 offers a creative space to explore what it means to be human.
Working online with people wherever they are in the world, the program invites you to explore your inner landscape and your relationship with the wider world through creative expression.
Together, we cultivate sensitivity, presence, and the subtle art of truly inhabiting our senses.
Through art, movement, and mindful attention, we deepen our connection with body, mind, imagination, and the living world, discovering a more peaceful and creative way of being.
OMOMUKI 趣 is rooted in Raphael’s lifelong ongoing research, teaching, and practice in Deep Ecology, Art, Dance, Philosophy, and Psychotherapy. This includes research and teaching at Goldsmiths, University of London, and the University of the Arts London. It is embodied in their doctoral thesis:
Toward a Deep Ecology of Art, Technology and Being
OMOMUKI 趣 iis an eclectic contemporary program playing with contemporary and traditional media,. Its soul is connected to profound historical ideas, particularly from Japan and India.
Raphael has created and directed innovative art programs across a rage of media. These theory and practice based courses have been shared in diverse locations:
Faculty member of Goldsmiths, University of London UK
Children’s pop up studio on the streets of an impoverished district of Paris, France
Other courses, lectures, workshops around the world
Hospital for the criminally insane UK
BIPOC oriented mental health center UK
Awakening and Healing Center, Thailand

Commenting on Raphael’s playshops with his Masters students
Raphael has a way of
immediately making people
feel at ease with the present.
Feelings and thoughts are validated in that moment.
This made it possible for
communication and engagement to flow.
The students valued Raphael's demystification of
quite complex philosophical ideas.
They were able to examine their everyday experiences
and
appreciate the art of simplicity and conviviality
in a present and authentic way
More than a therapeutic program, OMOMUKI 趣 is a daily way of being: a way of creativity, ecological awareness, and existential inquiry—one that continues to help me find beauty, meaning, and moments of peace amidst uncertainty. This Raphael calls:
THE DELICIOUS DELIGHT OF LIVING
No previous experience in art is needed.
We begin with Beginner’s Mind.
